Small Changes

Get serious about getting healthy. Here are a few simple small changes that are easy to do to get big results.

The first thing is easy. Eat a healthy breakfast every day. Make sure you have at least 20 grams of protein. Avoid starchy carbs. such as bagels, toast and pastries. Try Greek yogurt or cottage cheese. Add fruit and walnuts for a satisfying and tasty meal.

Eliminate excess sugar. Your body may be addicted to sugar, so that when you first cut it out, your body will crave it. Ride it out. The good news is that in a fairly short time you the cravings will stop, and you will feel better.

Drink more water. Most people don’t drink as much water as they should. Authorities agree that drinking more water can lead to weight loss and better health. Start first thing in the morning with a glass while you get ready. Adding a slice of lemon and using a beautiful glass will make drinking water more like a treat. Place a glass on the table at every meal. Pour yourself a tall cool glass to enjoy during your workout. Americans take our safe clean water supply for granted. Drink your water consciously with an attitude of gratitude.

Load up on nutrient rich carbs. Add more veggies and fruit into your diet. Veggies have three things your body needs on a daily basis: fiber, water and minerals. This one thing alone will help you lose weight and become healthier. Fresh raw veggies make a refreshing midday snack. Replace starchy side dishes with roasted vegetables at dinner.

Movement boosts your metabolism. Most fitness experts suggest exercise three to five times per week. This can be just walking. However, most people get better results by adding weight training into the mix. Lifting weights helps maintain bone mass. You would be amazed how adding one or two more activities a week can be the difference between gradually losing all the weight you want or just spinning your wheels.
