Lighten Up with Derick!
Less carbs = lose weight
Take the old wisdom: Eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch and a pauper for dinner. Now apply it to carbs to help you eat well and lose weight.
Try this. At breakfast allow 40% of your calories to be in the form of carbs. This will help fuel your daily energy needs. When lunch comes around scale that percentage down to 25% and then for dinner scale down the carb’s to 15%. At the same time, make sure the other calories are coming from clean lean protein.
Eat quality food. Sorry, but we are not talking about a high carb breakfast like pancakes with syrup. Instead, have whole wheat toast, or oatmeal with some protein like eggs. Or try some berries with non-fat yogurt. At dinner have a protein source that has at least 20-30 grams of protein. We Americans like a lot of protein for dinner anyway. You can have broiled fish, chicken, pork tenderloin and even red meat once in a while but have it with veggies instead of rice, rolls, potatoes and starchy carbs.
What I like best about this program is that all the meals are good size. You may actually be eating more but finally starting to lose weight. One note of caution: If you do all this but have a few drinks and some snacks while you watch TV, you’ll add back all the carbs you just subtracted.
